It's quite a common thing in software to have an internal variable (e.g. "Name") which never changes and therefore can be used elsewhere in the code safely (and is often intended to make sense to programmers, not users); and a "friendly" version of it that is what the user actually sees, which can change for localisation purposes (translations to other languages for example).

For example, Grundorf has the Name "Grundorf", however the Friendlyname is "Grundorf (Tutorial)" in English, Hungarian and German, but "Grundorf (Tutoriel)" in French and "Grundorf (Samouczek)" in Polish.

However, despite all of this, it appears that OMSI just displays the Name variable in the map selection box, so the "Friendlyname" is apparently unused (description does still translate though, which is something). o_O
