Who actually uses Ubuntu? The other day I wanted a new OS, and I'm that kind of person who knows things about computers and other things. But this is my opinion; Ubuntu is horrible.

It looks nice, don't get me wrong. And it has some very cool features which Windows is slacking. But the most simplest things seems impossible to do. It took me a full day to try and get my wireless driver working, and every time I tried to download a simple program like Skype, it throws out errors like nothing tomorrow.

I mean, what's this Sudo thing about? I can't believe that when downloading simple packages and programs, you have to type a command in terminal just to get the thing.

What's your thoughts?

The only Linux distro's I like are Fedora & Linux Mint, Ubuntu seems a bit to commercialised for me now :P

Ubuntu can be great, For one it is the most popular which means if you are migrating from windows it is the most compatible with all the same software on windows. Sudo is to run as admin through the terminal, The whole terminal thing is the beauty of Linux, It's aimed at a more advanced audience. You can also just download things normally. I use ubuntu, win 7, and arch w/ gnome. Also there is more than one version of Ubunto, find the one that suits you. Or any other distro for that matter. If you need any help just message me :)

Ubuntu has done a great deal of good, but the recent "commercialization" of the distro is a bit dishartening to me. Personally I'm turning more and more towards the BSDs if I don't need windows on the machine, simply because I prefer the userland layouts and less inconsistency(compared to linux)
