There isn't really. I mean, there is the Bus Simulator 20xx series (but they aren't great) and Fernbus Simulator (More a Flixbus, the German National Express, simulator). Or you can go for your PVC license and drive a bus in real life ;). Apart from, that, there isn't really any alternative I'm afraid

LOTUS is the replacement for OMSI, but it's still in development.

i somewhat doubt your hitting 140fps on a game like OMSI 2...
I've reached 1000 fps before in OMSI, and regularly hit 300+. But the former was on an empty 1 tile map with no buses and the latter is on Grundorf with no buses loaded. ;)

OMSI is not an optimised game, indeed before OMSI 2 it was single-threaded and lent on the CPU more for the graphics processing. It simply cannot take proper advantage of the resources you throw at it. :(

32GB

i just wish it was made by scs or something because there games are heavliy optimized for low and high end pc's

well all I can say is I have a slightly better graphics card than you, an i5 yet only 16GB of RAM, and my OMSI runs really smoothly almost all of the time. Its all down to how you have your settings, maybe your over estimating what your computer can handle... Also on a side note, I seen a setting which allows you to set a Maximum texture memory for high res textures, and by default its set to 512MB, I changed it to 8GB and my OMSI runs really well. Of course it may be down to somethings completely unrelated but its worth a shot.

I dont quite see how your map could be getting 140fps then suddenly dropping to below 10? that does not make sense to me usually if im playing say Lemmental i'll smoothly sit 90-120 but when im in the busy areas mainly Hautbahnhof ill drop to say 30/40 but that's also because of the AI i use (default used to get around 60/70) i dont see how your game could all of suddenly lose 133 frames, maybe im being silly but i doubt that:nomouth:

Ah but you see, this is OMSI. As we all know OMSI likes to defy logic.

Anyway to answer OP's topic title. There's nothing better than OMSI 2 available right now. It's really a case of like it or lump it.

To Alfie1979 - for games like Fernbus and OMSI a high end PC is best also HD space, they don't take up much but if you're low on space as I nearly am loading things can slow it down. However, if you do end up with a high end PC - check out PC Specialist or Overclockers as they do some good builds.

In terms of a replacement for OMSI, I've heard from a developer about LOTUS and I wont say much on that but lets just wait and see for LOTUS. Whereas TML are pushing new boundaries with The bus, i've heard from a dev too that that is coming with some features so my money is on TML for The Bus, they've now got some people who i can't name but they've done works for OMSI in the past and know about physics, gearboxes etc and with it being multiplayer there's loads to do. Finally it's powered by Unreal which is getting constant updates from the core devs.

So it's up to you but i'd stick with it for now but keep an eye on TML with Fernbus and The Bus.

maybe i should try that 4GB patch thing

Yes the CFF Explorer 4GB patch makes a big difference, plus I use game booster 3.4 as well. I also make sure my power settings are at "High Performance"., many PC's and especially Laptops are set at "Balanced" to manage power consumption economically.

Your settings will make a difference. and also which Map you play, some maps are heavier than others. for example I can run Hafen city at full graphics without much problem. lowest frame rate is around 17 fps in certain areas of the map, with an average of 25 to 30 fps on the rest of the map.

I also reduce the number of AI buses on some maps and lower the schedule setting, and of course the amount of AI traffic.

OMSI is all about the settings dependant on the map, but is the only true, good and best bus simulator out there at the moment.

I use a Samsung Chrome laptop with an i5, 2.6 ghz with in built Samsung turbo boost to 3.2 ghz when on "high Performance", 8GB Ram, 64 bit operating system, AMD Radeon Graphics with in built 4GB memory.
