Repaints GM Buses Fleetline/Atlantean Pack (Released) (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I've been working on a repaint of the Fleetline, to make something akin to an Atlantean (visually anyway), with a view to releasing a GM Buses pack, focussing from de-regulation up-to around 2001 when mass withdrawls took place.

Each repaint has been reproduced from photos, using colour references from the Selnec Preservation Society.
All bodyside adverts are from reference photos and are appropriate to the period.

So far, there's the following...

Mid-Late 80s
The iconic GM Buses Orange, Brown & White

What's left to do?

Mid-Late 80s - Other depots, Atherton, City Central (Queens Road) etc
Try to source quality photos of depot roundels for Early-Late 90s repaints that haven't been taken at an angle
Replace GM Buses logo on "Whortleberry", Orange & White, as i've just noticed it's not the correct one!
GM Buses North (GMN) Stripes - Sort clipping issue on engine bay
Redo the smaller interior text and some of the interior posters, as some of it has suffered badly from crap anti-aliasing in Paint.net
Source period ceiling advert examples

Repaints
GM Buses North (GMN) "Whortleberry", Orange & White, GMN sticker logo
GM Buses North (GMN) "Stripes", "First Greater Manchester"
First Greater Manchester "Tomato soup"
GM South (GMS) / GMS "A Stagecoach subsidiary"

All repaints are currently using the manual gearbox, but should be semi-auto, as GMT standardised on this prior to deregulation, scrapping all non-semi-auto Fleetlines and Atlanteans.
I had been in contact with FF3170 over using the semi-auto SF2-31 model, but came across issues with texture mapping on the right side and internals, which weren't worth persuing at the time, so I'm interested to know whether this is something you guys would like to see?

Also interested to know if folks would like a Selnec/GM Transport pack on the back of these as well.

Cheers,

Alex

Pure Eye Candy

???? ???????? ???????? ???????? ????

6/5 stars on these paints, I absolutely LOVE the interior, the blue lights (custom?), the seat textures, the Greater Manchester adverts, just everything.
And I haven't even been to Manchester!

I wish you the best of luck with somehow getting the foglights to work.
Many thanks for these beautiful updates! :)

Cheers! ????

The blue light is an rgb tweak to the model.cfg, so a bit like the headlight cluster, it's all misdirection really... ;)

Everytime I go looking for reference photos, I find another set of photos I'd not come across before... My Google fu is strong at the moment, but it's making me loads more work!

Case in point... Here's a First Manchester Stripes!

Ah great repaints - just wish we had Manchester in OMSI

If it ever happens, I'll be a happy man!

Nearing the end of the repaint stage now, and now have interiors with the following variations
  • No smoking signs on lower deck only, for repaints prior to 1992 (when GM Buses banned smoking on all services), or where some refurbishment has been done
  • No smoking signs on upper and lower decks for all repaints after 1992, regardless of refurbishment
  • Original, semi and fully refurbished interiors, with appropriate seat moquette
  • Different drivers door posters, depending on era represented and repaint
  • Stairway bulkhead poster differences, depending on era

So, for a run through, let's start with the mid 80s, just after de-regulation...

Progress to the late 80s to early 90s...
1571262258635.png

Then to the mid 90s, following onto the enforced split of GM Buses to become GM Buses North and GM Buses South...
1571262315412.png

Then to the late 90s and the purchase of GM Buses North by First and rebranding...

Still need to sort the GMS repaint(s), which won't take long and also mix up some of the adverts/create new adverts (for variety) too...
Not even started the task of trying to move the fullbeam location! o_O

Loving this pack so far, It ain't no Northern Counties Fleetline but just WOW! :)

Thanks and I agree it's about as far from being Northern Counties as we could get... Too many saloon windows down each side for a start, not to mention the wrong front windscreen profile and double doors - Double door Fleetlines were all dispensed with in Manchester by the late 70s, not forgetting that Selnec ordered Fleetlines with either Northern Counties or Park Royal bodywork as far as I can tell.

Anyway, its the closest thing I can get my hands on to add texture tweaks here and there... Unless anybody has an NC AN68 in the wings somewhere, because I'd be more than happy to do all this again for one of those! :)

Aside from this lovely Greater Manchester pack, would you ever consider covering the later transfered Fleetline's that ended up In Halifax?

I grew up in Manchester and have fond memoeries of GM Buses, so I have to admit that Calderline isn't an area I have any knowledge of really, but it had been on my hitlist for a later pack, along with North Birmingham Busways and First Pennine.

It needs a couple of tweaks around the engine bay, a slightly deeper yellow and filling in around the light cluster (which is a pain to do!), but I knocked this up in about 45 mins... How does that do you? ;)
