Repaints GM Buses Fleetline/Atlantean Pack (Released) (2 Viewers)

Hi all,

I've been working on a repaint of the Fleetline, to make something akin to an Atlantean (visually anyway), with a view to releasing a GM Buses pack, focussing from de-regulation up-to around 2001 when mass withdrawls took place.

Each repaint has been reproduced from photos, using colour references from the Selnec Preservation Society.
All bodyside adverts are from reference photos and are appropriate to the period.

So far, there's the following...

Mid-Late 80s
The iconic GM Buses Orange, Brown & White

What's left to do?

Mid-Late 80s - Other depots, Atherton, City Central (Queens Road) etc
Try to source quality photos of depot roundels for Early-Late 90s repaints that haven't been taken at an angle
Replace GM Buses logo on "Whortleberry", Orange & White, as i've just noticed it's not the correct one!
GM Buses North (GMN) Stripes - Sort clipping issue on engine bay
Redo the smaller interior text and some of the interior posters, as some of it has suffered badly from crap anti-aliasing in Paint.net
Source period ceiling advert examples

Repaints
GM Buses North (GMN) "Whortleberry", Orange & White, GMN sticker logo
GM Buses North (GMN) "Stripes", "First Greater Manchester"
First Greater Manchester "Tomato soup"
GM South (GMS) / GMS "A Stagecoach subsidiary"

All repaints are currently using the manual gearbox, but should be semi-auto, as GMT standardised on this prior to deregulation, scrapping all non-semi-auto Fleetlines and Atlanteans.
I had been in contact with FF3170 over using the semi-auto SF2-31 model, but came across issues with texture mapping on the right side and internals, which weren't worth persuing at the time, so I'm interested to know whether this is something you guys would like to see?

Also interested to know if folks would like a Selnec/GM Transport pack on the back of these as well.

Cheers,

Alex

This sounds an interesting project and I will be certainly downloading this when it is released. The Fleetline is a good OMSI bus just it's seems to be an underrated bus and there's not many repaints for it. I hope you can finish this pack soon.

Thanks for the support guys.

Since the last post, I've made a couple of minor changes to GMN stripes, which then morphed into and the "Greater Manchester" Stripes as well...
Also pretty much finished the two First Greater Manchester "Tomato Soup" repaints...

Still need to add/change adverts, change the fleet numbers to all be black and sort the interiors though...

Thanks! :)

And just to add a bit of realism for a training bus...

Very very nice!
Love the worn cab door sticker too!

Also made a start on a rather different GMT repaint from the early 80's.

The logo and font need tweaking but it's getting there...

Looks really cool!
Only thing I'd maybe adjust is the main colour of the bus, on that real life picture the beige looks more pale than on your OMSI one. :)
Still, great job! I'd love to see these released! :D

Thanks for the feedback, i think the beige shade is entirely dependent on the ambient light and the quality of the film/photo - I've seen at least 3 different shades for the same design since I posted that!

I've been working on the drivers doors for the various repaints and here are a couple of examples...

Also done some work on seat textures...

... well, where do you think?!
And I thought I was the only one doing Fleetline repaints around here...

Have to hand it to you - Bloody. Amazing. I've been wondering what you were up to ever since that post about seat moquettes and ever since something surfaced about GM Buses logos, and I have to say, that blows all my work right out of the park. Better job than I would have done with my GM Buses repaint...

Nice to see you're using my YC blinds, too. I'm looking to maybe do something with the rollband numbers - maybe I'll make them that weird shade of yellow that GM Buses had back in the day? I, for one, would love to also get into more of the know-how about the interior of the Fleetline - would love to crack the code of interiors like you have one day.

And finally... four headlights? FOUR HEADLIGHTS? How?!

EDIT: Just for a little extra clout proof, here's the latest thing I've been procrastinating working on: both a Yorkshire Rider and a Merseybus Fleetline. Note the untouched interiors.

These look very nice, love them both!
The Yorkshire Rider one would be perfect for @Sylar's Yorkshire Counties. :)

I think @typojinx just put the two additional foglights on the main front body texture, I don't think they're actual headlights (if you look closely you can barely make out that they're a bit more flat than the actual lights of the bus). ;)

Cheers guys, nice to know you think they're looking the part! It's taken a while to get to this point!

What can I say, I'm a Manchester lad... The GM standard Atlantean was a fixture of my youth and it's always seemed a shame to me that there wasn't much of anything GM around for OMSI.

Sounds good to me! It'd be even better if the destination was that weird yellow and the numbers were white :)

The dayglo rollbands are great, but not quite GM, if you know what I mean?

@LeylandNationalStagecoach is absolutely right - The additional headlights are just a texture - Hopefully just for now, but no promises.
As far as I can tell, the bottom headlight of the cluster was a foglight and in later years, a lot were blanked off in all sorts of different ways, which is something I'd already done on the First Greater Manchester repaint ;)

1570966181689.png

Unfortunately, this model doesn't appear to have a foglight, so as long as I can think of a way of splitting the blanked and 4 cluster models up, I'm looking at changing the fullbeam position instead, so it at least does something.
No idea if it's possible at the moment as I know very little about the model.cfg, or the relationship between x, y and z, but with the help of @Road-hog123's wiki page, I plan to give it a go.

Already found something in there that I wanted to achieve, and now just need to get the rgb value and multiplier right... The final GMN seat texture is almost done as well, which you might just be able to make out...

And just because @Hullian111 is treating us to MerseyBus repaints, I thought I'd reignite the buswar of the early 90's ;)...

Pure Eye Candy

???? ???????? ???????? ???????? ????

6/5 stars on these paints, I absolutely LOVE the interior, the blue lights (custom?), the seat textures, the Greater Manchester adverts, just everything.
And I haven't even been to Manchester!

I wish you the best of luck with somehow getting the foglights to work.
Many thanks for these beautiful updates! :)
