v2.10 is an intermediate update for BotW, and is in development at the same time as BotW3. The update is not as expansive as version 3, but does touch up the most deserving areas, and addresses long standing issues.

Changes from v2.9
  • Textures upgraded for the whole map
Although the road surfaces have not received the same weathered effect present in v3, they've been updated, along with pavement and kerb textures to match v3. Ground textures have been wiped and re-painted with higher quality textures, too. Snow textures have been properly implemented, too.

  • Updated ambient sounds
The old sounds were pretty bad and needed replacement. We were all used to them too much, anyway.

  • Updated spline and object structure to match v3's more efficient layout
This means a smaller installation, and is just tidier. Less important for the casual player, but will also help map developers who use our assets.

  • Now a zero-dependency installation
With the exception of the C400R (which we imagine you have already), there are no external dependencies required for v2.10. This will prevent problems seen with AussieX going down.

  • Fixed many badly-created splines
Including those converted from the M-R and Simplestreets sets as well as our own - many splines had too many faces or just didn't look very nice. We've tidied them up which should save a few polygons, aiding performance slightly.

  • Fixed pathing of M-R and Simplestreets converted crossings
No more pointless gridlock or weird pathing

  • Many areas of the map rebuilt, refurbished or replaced
PAIGNTON BUS STATION and surrounding areas. The old version was really bad and dates back to 2012.
TOTNES TOWN CENTRE and surrounding areas. We've reused an experimental town layout intended for the now-defunct Legacy Edition.
BERRY POMEROY has been refurbished. Again, this area was very old and in desperate need of improvement.
The whole map has been improved overall slightly, with the introduction of UKDT Flora 3, as well as small general improvements where required.

  • New Route!
You've been asking for this for a very long time. So, we've brought in the Park & Ride route from the now-defunct Legacy Edition. It's not massively long, but it'll give you something new to drive ;)

  • Reconstructed many junctions which were built too inefficiently
These date back many years, and were made at a time when skills were still being developed. Now, we can look back and have a better way of building them, using fewer spline/object instances, and tidier construction. Although you will not notice this, it makes the map load a tiny bit quicker, and helps the FPS out a little.

  • Turned Tweenaway Cross junction into an object
The tile load coming into this area is pretty bad. We're still working on this point, but we expect that once our improvements have been completed, you will have a much smoother experience with better FPS here.

  • Introduced invisible junction objects for more junctions
Many junctions were still using invis_street splines and 'ampelspline' style objects. We've done away with these for a more realistic experience, improved AI behaviour and slightly better performance.

  • Installed more custom signage
Some businesses have their own signs, complex junctions have their own signs, too. This is purely aesthetic and we hope makes a good improvement to the map.

  • Retextured more buildings to remove German shop fronts
Many buildings have also been retextured simply so they fit into their surroundings better.

Estimated Completion Date
Sorry, as a rule of thumb we don't give these out. This saves you from disappointment if we hit any problems. However, as this is simply a refresh, we can tell you that it will be published in a matter of weeks. We're mostly complete!
