Hi there, in this tutorial you will learn how to add the assault screen from the London spec to the regional spec easily, no modelling required at all.
For this tutorial to work, you will require both the London spec and regional spec ALX400s installed.
First, open up the London spec ALX400’s model folder. Then, copy and paste these 4 files into a folder (on your desktop, for example):
For this to work alongside the non-assault screen cab, you will need to rename the cab mouldings files. In this example, I will add “(2)” onto the end of them (however you can add anything you wish, as long as you can figure out which one’s which afterwards).
As the London spec’s cab mouldings are not mapped the same as the regional’s, we will need to copy over the London spec’s cab mouldings texture file. Then open up the texture folder, and copy and paste
Your folder should look something like this:
Now, open up the regional ALX400’s model folder. Paste over the O3D files. If you renamed your cab mouldings, there shouldn’t be any overwriting. If it asks to overwrite, rename your file(s) something else. Then go to the textures folder and paste in
Go back to the model folder, and copy and paste any CFG file of your choice, and give it a suitable name (for example,
Repeat the process for “mouldings_cab_door.o3d”.
To add the actual screen, we’ll need to copy and paste something from the London spec’s CFG. Open up any CFG file for the London spec, and search for
Highlight everything from the top row of #s to
Save the file and exit Notepad. We’ll now need to create a new BUS file so we can select the bus in OMSI. Go to the ALX400R’s root folder (the one with the model, scripts, sounds, textures folder in it) and copy and paste the BUS file that corresponds with the model CFG you pasted (for example, if you copied an LED Krueger CFG, copy and paste an LED Krueger BUS file), and open it up in Notepad.
All you need to do is edit the second row of the
As it uses a different cab mouldings file to what the regular regional ALX400 uses, you will find that the cab mouldings may be a different colour to the rest of the interior. To fix this, you will need to add the new cab mouldings file as a repaintable extra. To do this, open up the assault screen ALX400’s CFG, search for
You will then have to create a new cab mouldings file for the repaint. To do this, go back to the London spec and copy and paste over the cab mouldings template to the regional spec, and rename it appropriately. You can then edit the template to have the correct colour for the repaint, and save it to wherever the repaint is. You’ll then have to edit the CTI file to include the new repaintable extra. Open the CTI up and copy and paste the entire
You should now have a fully functioning regional spec ALX400, with the assault screen!
For this tutorial to work, you will require both the London spec and regional spec ALX400s installed.
First, open up the London spec ALX400’s model folder. Then, copy and paste these 4 files into a folder (on your desktop, for example):
assault_screen.o3d
assault_screen_cd.o3d
mouldings_cab.o3d
mouldings_cab_door.o3d
For this to work alongside the non-assault screen cab, you will need to rename the cab mouldings files. In this example, I will add “(2)” onto the end of them (however you can add anything you wish, as long as you can figure out which one’s which afterwards).
As the London spec’s cab mouldings are not mapped the same as the regional’s, we will need to copy over the London spec’s cab mouldings texture file. Then open up the texture folder, and copy and paste
mouldings_cab.png
into the folder you have just created.Your folder should look something like this:
Now, open up the regional ALX400’s model folder. Paste over the O3D files. If you renamed your cab mouldings, there shouldn’t be any overwriting. If it asks to overwrite, rename your file(s) something else. Then go to the textures folder and paste in
mouldings_cab.png
. It shouldn’t overwrite as the regional’s cab mouldings file has _r
at the end of it.Go back to the model folder, and copy and paste any CFG file of your choice, and give it a suitable name (for example,
ALX400_r_assaultscreen.cfg
. Open the pasted CFG up with Notepad. Press Ctrl+F, and in the box that appears type in mouldings_cab.o3d
. Under the [mesh] tag, there’s a file name with that exact file. Replace that with whatever you renamed mouldings_cab.o3d
, and under the [matl] tag remove the _r
at the end of mouldings_cab
.Repeat the process for “mouldings_cab_door.o3d”.
To add the actual screen, we’ll need to copy and paste something from the London spec’s CFG. Open up any CFG file for the London spec, and search for
assault
. You should be brought to ASSAULT SCREEN
surrounded by hashtags/number signs.Highlight everything from the top row of #s to
zahltisch
(just above another row of #s for the window dividers), and copy it. Then go back to the regional’s model CFG you have been editing, search for window dividers
, go two rows above the #s, hit enter two times and paste it in. It should now look like this.Save the file and exit Notepad.
All you need to do is edit the second row of the
[friendlyname]
tag, and the [model]
tag. The [friendlyname]
tag is usually the first thing to appear, and the [model]
tag is typically found at line 68. For the friendlyname, you can name it whatever you like but putting assault screen
in it will make it easier to find in OMSI. For the [model]
tag, leave the model\
bit alone, and put in whatever you named the CFG file you copied. Save the file and close it.As it uses a different cab mouldings file to what the regular regional ALX400 uses, you will find that the cab mouldings may be a different colour to the rest of the interior. To fix this, you will need to add the new cab mouldings file as a repaintable extra. To do this, open up the assault screen ALX400’s CFG, search for
Mouldings_cab_r.png
until you find that file with [CTCTexture] above it. Remove the _r
at the end of the file name below it.You will then have to create a new cab mouldings file for the repaint.
[CTCTexture]
tag, replace CTCTexture
with item
and add the repaint name below it. Then rename the file name to the new cab mouldings texture you have created. You should now have a fully functioning regional spec ALX400, with the assault screen!
