This repaint is based on a typical SMRT Citaro.
The first batch of these buses were delivered in 2011. All Citaro buses in Singapore are of the 2nd-generation 12-metre urban model with two doors.
They fulfill the requirements of the Euro 5 and EEV emissions standards using BlueTec 5, the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology developed by Mercedes-Benz, hence requiring the use of AdBlue as a diesel additive.
It is worth noting that all Citaros are of the 2005-facelifted version, although Mercedes-Benz had launched a newer 3rd-Generation facelift in 2011.
The older design was acquired in bulk likely as a cost-saving measure and to promote fleet standardization.
As a result, Mercedes-Benz continued to keep the production line open for these 2005-facelifted buses well past 2012, simply to fulfill orders for the Singapore market.
