Amazing map love driving on it would definitely recommend anyone they download it great fun. Just a quick question could just be me but every time I complete a run on a line say 247 when I reach my destination and go to change the destination sign in the quick menu it seems to be stuck on the previous destination sign and won’t change till I spawn in a new bus

First of all I want to mention that this is a unique map both with regards to quality and quantity. It feels really realistic to drive on it and I would certainly advise every Omsi lover to download it.
But what Ive experienced on a quick run from North Sydney Depot to Goose Hill and one round on line m20 is that there is still much work to do:
1.) Traffic is stuck on many roads and does not move on. Not in a realistic way but in a buggy way that nothing moves forward or backward. Dont get me wrong I appreciate much traffic and even traffic jam but not in a way that cars stopping and not moving on without a reason.
2.) Tickets and passengers: I had to replace my bus two times during this short amount of playing, because passengers where just staying at the front door and not moving on without saying something. Another passenger ordered a ticket but would not take it, when I handed it out and also stayed at the front door. Also in the Mercedes Citaro the ticket printer does not contain an mybus 3 concession ticket. Therefore I couldnt sell one to the passenger manually. All in all the behaviour of the passengers seems to be somewhat buggy which makes it hard to drive on the map for a longer time without making adjustments.
3.) Cars and objects are plopping up just moments before you encounter them. Especially when you are on a main road and cars plopping up in a side road next to you or even on a main road in front of you it does not help to make the map realistic. I would suggest to choose entry points for cars in less visible places, as it is practised on other maps. On the other hand I have to say that the amount of traffic creates a very lively atmosphere.

Nevertheless in this state I have to say, that it is hard to play the map smoothly. Readjusting things every 20 minutes or so or having to drive through other cars that do not moving on makes it hard to enjoy the map even if it is a masterpiece.

Thanks for the feedback and welcome to the forum. ;)
Frankfurt am Main oder an der Oder?

I always like to explain percieved issues on the map.

But what Ive experienced on a quick run from North Sydney Depot to Goose Hill (Gore Hill, mate. Besides, if you've done the SPL, then you've not driven too far - just down Ernest St, Alexander and Albany and past RNSH/Gore HIll Oval))
1.) Traffic is stuck on many roads and does not move on. (Omsi bug, mostly due to being RHD not LHD, especially on 6 and 7 lane roads))
Dont get me wrong I appreciate much traffic and even traffic jam (Pretty much all the M20 is one big traffic jam. This is an extremely busy part of the world. Once it took me 2 hours to get from the Spit Bridge to Crows Nest).

2.) Tickets and passengers: I had to replace my bus two times during this short amount of playing, because passengers where just staying at the front door and not moving on without saying something. (This is entirely due to the bus, which we did not build and I understand is no longer being supported openly by Lowlander - it has nothing to do with the map. Passengers getting onto seats is all laid out in bus scripts.)(The giving of money by passengers to you is hat we can control through the currency pack, what the bus gives back is up to the bus)

Another passenger ordered a ticket but would not take it, when I handed it out and also stayed at the front door. (Bus again mate, not map)
Also in the Mercedes Citaro the ticket printer does not contain an mybus 3 concession ticket.(Bus)
Therefore I couldnt sell one to the passenger manually. (Bus does not support Australian currency, I would recommend the Eclipse for manual ticketing)
All in all the behaviour of the passengers seems to be somewhat buggy which makes it hard to drive on the map for a longer time without making adjustments. (You sound very frustrated, which is unfortunate.)

3.) Cars and objects are plopping up just moments before you encounter them. (This is an identified bug which is mentioned in the FAQ and the manual.)

especially when you are on a main road and cars plopping up in a side road next to you or even on a main road in front of you it does not help to make the map realistic. (Car priority has always been an issue with RHD maps.)

I think for all that hard work you put in, you have done an amazing job!!
I love the map!!

Quick question the MBO 405 bus for the map is that a steam dlc?

Thanks again!

Thank mate. glad that you are enjoying the map.
The modified MBO405 on the map was made in Singapore (SBS Transit) and is no longer available elsewhere.

Manly Act 3... a masterpiece. Probably the largest here on FellowsFilm.
I've started exploring from Mona Vale Depot, and then just driving and driving, and the roads never stopped. And it looks the part as well.
The map has a very unique style and feel to it, and, even though I have never been even even remotely close to Australia, I still feel like I'm driving there, from thousands and thousands of miles away.
I can't thank you enough for this truly amazing piece.

It inspires us when we hear that folk from the other side fo the world enjoy Australia.

I feel people have been quite critical with their reviews here, regarding 'detail' - not one German reused asset in this map that I've seen, with road networks and layouts clearly made as close as possible to real life.

Great work :)

There are some German assets, but we made them ourselves.

Great map! Lots of routes and areas to explore making a realistic feel of a whole network of routes.

Pro's:
-Large map
-Multiple detailed depots
-Many routes and variations available
-Great custom objects (not a hint of overused German Buildings ????)
-Not as laggy as people may think (Yes, it runs alright on a laptop with an intel i3 processor!!!)
-Some areas well detailed (such as side roads and extra road or advertising signs)

Con's (Certainly outweighed by Pro's)
-Road textures blurred, overlap and abruptly end at some junctions
-Some details on buildings and signs blurred, making them a bit unrealistic (yes, I know it is due to Omsi being unstable and all that)
-Some side roads not that detailed (shows hints of just plain Omsi terrain when waiting at traffic lights)
-Tad complicated to follow routes (not too much though)

Overall, a great map providing many Brit's with an authentic Aussie feel. Can definitely see the effort put into this map. Just a few small improvements and would be top notch in my opinion.

P.S.Am I on the Xmas Card list? ???? :P

We might send you a blurry Chrsitmas Card.
This map is based on the realworld Australian expereince. How do you know that the roadsigns aren't blurry in Australia?

While it's great we're seeing a new map coming onto the OMSI scene and I really do feel this is a map many many players will enjoy driving on, however I do feel it is lacking in a few places.
You've dedicated over 7 years working on this map, so for that bravo. I know map making isn't the easiest thing in the world, especially for OMSI so this deserves a lot of motivation.
For me, I feel definitely quantity over quality has been in play here. There's massive amounts of custom objects which does bring an Aussie feel to this map. However, especially on the roads, it's clear a larger map has been desired. I'm not hating on this approach, I do know many people in the community do want a larger map with more routes and yeah unfortunately you will need to sacrifice all the detail to bring that, because of file sizes, performance and just the time to develop the map, so this isn't my main gripe with the map.
My main issues are the route directions and the roads. The route arrows can be very very confusing at times and are not very clear where you need to go, it assumes you know the area. I had to drive with the Google Maps routes up on my second monitor to make sure I didn't get lost and even still I struggled.
The traffic lights across the map are hit and miss. Some are good, some are just very poorly timed and take way too long, others just don't work at all with traffic going through red lights.
And the road systems, especially on the highways, they don't look amazing. You have a slip road onto the highway with 2/3 lanes which then suddenly vanishes into 1 and then slides into another. It's just not perfected, but again as a large map I can see why it's like this.

Overall, if you're looking for a large map with long routes and a variety of routes, this is definitely a good map for you, just expect to do a bit of route learning. However if you're custom to detail over quality in maps such as Cotterell and BoTW, you may be disappointed by what this provides.

Thanks for the attempt at an even handed review.
7 years ia s long time and we have made many sacrifices. Many kilometres have been walked, many late night discussions had and motivation has come and gone.
There are some bugs and we are aiming to fix them as they are identified. My being 600kms from home and 1200 kms tomorrow and 1600kms the day after and for the next fortnight isn't going to see immediate fix.
For the record, this map is not a new map, it is obviously new to you. Manly ACT ONE was released in OMSI 1 in 2014 I believe. OMSI 1 defineitly was quite unforgiving for the RHD which has become standard now.
Also, this is a REAL place, not a fictional map lilke Cotterell and BoTW (which I understand is various places mashed together - I hope I got this right). BTW, I have the greatest respect for both iomex and whisltlehead. Probably more than they think. Somehow I may have unwittingly offended them in a past place and I wish to apologise if that is the case.
Being a real place, you get crappy lane widths and merges.
It sounds like you just need to learn the knowledge mate. Learn the routes. The markers are designed to help. If stuck, follow the colour coding at least. I would hope my bus driver knew where he was going.
There are massive amunts of custom objects on this map. Ever single Commercial and Residential building (about 6000 models) has been photographed and modelled from scratch as have the roadways and intersections using Google Earth, Council and Roads and Maritime (Govt dept) specifications. All the trees have also been made from scratch. Sayng there is no detail is just a kick in the teeth. Despite my ability to speak fluent German, there are no German buildings on the map at all. Driving through the English countryside and seeing a Apotheke or a Moebelladen on some maps is a detail some seem happy to go along with. We haven't just retextured Bushaltestellenschilder either. We have literally learnt how to build ferries and trains from blueprints... and build fonts from line drawings. The roadway textures have been downsized because OMSI can't handle them otherwise and I have taken feedback regarding ACT TWO (released in 2016) from many lower end users. No map is perfect, but we aim to please, even though we don't make a cent from it.

Traffic Lights fall into 3 categories.
Timings which are long because they are like that in the real world. (No apologies here)
Errors in selecting the right phase for the light. (We are working on this as it is identified)

The road systems are real. They are that wide, they have that many lanes and they merge. This is a real place. It is not a compromise. The WArringah FReeway was built in the 1960s. It is a 50 year old piece of road which hs been tweaked at various times to accomodate the Sydney Haroubr Tunnel among other things. Those merging lanes exist. It is a dog a road to drive.
For the record, The Manly OMSI team are getting a bit over reviews that use the buzzword "quality" We'd love a definition of what quality means. How is a quality map quality. If you want a better map, explain what makes it quality.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'll have a debrief with the team to see if you make the christmas card list.

I keep finding areas of the map that look like 7 minutes of work, not years. On the M20, the highway is confusing and looks incomplete. Road textures look old and the lanes feel like they are textured into the road. The roads are also in some areas not connected properly and cars go the wrong way down roads. The general feel of the map is just old and incomplete. Although I like the "Manly" versions of the buses. Oh and the ship..
Chuckinho

7 minutes ouch. I think you have just been taken off our Christmas Card list.

the map is great but the hof is confusing
Chuckinho
Chuckinho
Thanks mate.
I hope this helps

*********************************************************************************************
Hof Entries have 4/5 numbers (which also appear on the schedule in bus (on the clipboard)
First three are route number and 4th/5th is the destination

So 1848 is the 184 heading to whichever destinatoin it is

M, L and E buses have 0 as their first number
So M30 coud be 0308 or 0309

great work ! A little confusing for a american (us) like me (not use to rhd ) but been a fan of yours for years

Thanks mate, glad you like it. Confusion is OK, we get confused in America too and we would both get confused on London I'm sure ;)
So glad to hear form another long term fan. Hope we have delivered somethign playable...

Great map, 100% recommended. Extremely realistic to the actual manly and Sydney in RL The Harbour bridge is near to 100% accuracy in every way shape and form. This is by far the best and most realistic looking map I've played on in OMSI.

Chuckinho
Thanks mate. Sydney isn't the prettiest place on earth, but we have aimed to qrebuild it brick by brick.

Ofcourse Manly is the prettiest place on earth. ;)

Good map yet I have issues with the AI as well as the destination display going blank through my journey even though passengers will board. Some textures on the buses are blank but nonetheless I am impressed and looking forward to the next update with more great routes!
Chuckinho
Chuckinho
Thanks mate. Which bus are you using where the desto goes blank?
Upvote 0
Great map, however theres as mentioned AI Issues, some of the route signs aren't exactly clear and theres a few destinations missing from the HOF (M20) and also the destination wouldn't change on the 144 on the Citaro, aparts from the minor issues I am impressed.
Chuckinho
Chuckinho
Thanks mate. If you can let me know which route signs need clarification, I'm happy to edit them. Also, if you type in 0208 or 0209 you will get the M20. All M (Metrobus), E (Express) and L (Limited Stops) routes need to replace the letter with 0 at the start to find in the hof.

It is nice to see a map from the opposite side of the world. I've enjoyed playing it so far and am yet to get bored.

Pros:
1.Large selection of routes
2.Large selection of high quality routes
3.Areas seem accurate as far as I'm aware
4.Depots are very nice
5.Accurate road signage etc.
6.I like the smaller lane sizes as it gives it a better city-like feel

Cons:
1.Road textures are sometimes low quality
2.AI has issues
3.Map seems to be quantity over quality (in my opinion a smaller more detailed map would be nicer with a handful of routes rather than the 50 or so included)
4.Some building textures are low quality
5.Map sometimes gets repetitive
6. Foliage is sometimes misplaced leading in leaves blocking your path or trunks on curbs rather than grass

This map is certainly worth a try. I'm generally happy with it however there are a few issues. I love the fact that the O405 has been included.
Chuckinho
Chuckinho
Thanks for the review mate. Just to let you know that the quality of textures has been done deliberately to improve performace for low-end users. Every texture was originally created from digital photos 4K or bigger.
I am interested to hear how you think the quality fo the map can be improve. Feel free to message me with your thoughts.

Seems like a great map. I just can't find the hof files for the destination board. Can anyone help?

There are hof files included in the Eclipse, ADL 200 HK and Citaro for Manly. Just put the hof into the vehicle folder you want

I'm really happy the lanes have been fixed and that theres a much wider selection of lines and areas. Been waiting a long time and it's finally up! All in all really good. There are however some areas of problem (not game breaking, more cosmetic) and I'll dm these on your facebook page.
